Job Summary/Purpose:
This position may be filled as a Procurement Engineering Specialist I, II, III or Sr. depending on the qualifications, experience and the needs of the business.
Responsible for the establishment of accurate technical requirements to assure properties or attributes of importance are imparted to safety-related items and for the establishment of acceptance criteria to provide reasonable assurance that the technical and quality requirements of the specified safety-related items have been satisfied. Ensures correct design requirements are specified and translated properly into procurement requirements
Job Duties/
Responsibilities:
Developing Equivalency Evaluations to determine suitable replacement parts and components to address obsolete or unavailable items.
Performing Parts Interchangeability Evaluations for replacement material which is interchangeable with original plant equipment, with no change to form, fit, or function.
Performing technical evaluations and reviews of procurement documents.
Establishing and utilizing commercial grade dedications to support procurement activities.
Evaluating and documenting the disposition of technical discrepancies identified during the procurement process, receipt inspection process, and inventory control process.
Interfacing with internal and external groups on procurement related activities, as needed (e.g., supplier audit or Commercial Grade Survey checklists, establishing the technical and quality requirements of an item to be procured, interpretation of codes or standards, etc.).
Minimum education requirements of this position:
B.S. Degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with an operating nuclear power plant.
B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section II, III, VIII and XI desired
Minimum experience required of the position:
Eng. Spec. I - 0 years' experience BS degree or equivalent experience
Familiar with engineering principles
Eng. Spec II - 2 years without a Masters, 1 year with a Masters
Familiar with engineering principles, thorough understanding of procedures, programs and standards in responsible areas
Eng. Spec III - 4 years without a Masters, 3 years with a Masters
Familiar with engineering principles, thorough understanding of procedures, programs and standards in responsible areas
Eng. Spec Sr - 6 years without a Masters, 5 years with a Masters
Technical mastery of engineering principles, in depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible areas.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:
Knowledge of nuclear plant technology, systems and components. Ability to work with all disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls), manufacturers and suppliers including contractors. Good problem solving and change management skills. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work for timely and accurate completion. Communicates technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position:
Professional Engineering License and/or SRO License are helpful.
